Timken Co., which makes engineered bearings and alloy and specialty steel products, said it will soon open two manufacturing plants in Asia, adding to its ability to serve aerospace and industrial markets.

  !Wilkes CC receives $4,000 manufacturing camp grant
The Ashe campus of Wilkes Community College was named a winner of a 2008 manufacturing camp grant awarded jointly by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Foundation and the Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs Foundation. The grants are given to not-for-profit organizations and educational institutions that offer overnight or day camp experiences that introduce young people aged 12 to16 to careers in manufacturing and engineering.
